First we will enjoy a very nice culture of some staphylococcus aureus. Notice the excellent strokes in the agar! Beautiful, isn't it?
Now we will get a close up look at some of the same culture. There is nothing like an electron microscope to really let you enjoy culture.
And finally, we will take a close look at some culture that you definitely don't want to be around. Actually, this isn't from a culture. It is a gram stained specimen being viewed with a light microscope. This is the neisseria gonnorhea bacteria. Note that the large pink things are the nuclei of white blood cells. The bacteria are located in the right center of the image!
